Elden Ring: Nightreign (Network Test): First Impressions

Elden Ring: Nightreign: First Impressions

The Elden Ring: Nightreign network test reaffirms what fans already know —FromSoftware’s signature gameplay remains as strong as ever. Combat feels just as fluid, weighty, and rewarding as the original game, with a refined balance between aggression and caution. The enemy designs continue to be both challenging and satisfying to overcome, while new mechanics and tweaks keep the experience fresh. Whether you’re exploring ruins, taking on monstrous foes, or engaging in tense encounters, Nightreign retains the same deep and rewarding gameplay that made Elden Ring an instant classic.

As expected from FromSoftware, the art direction in Nightreign is breathtaking. The new environments are beautifully crafted, maintaining the eerie and mysterious atmosphere that has become a staple of the franchise. From shadow-drenched fortresses to sprawling, haunting landscapes covered in blue flames, every inch of the world feels purposeful and evocative. Enemy designs also stand out, featuring intricate details and unsettling silhouettes that add to the game’s dark fantasy appeal. It’s clear that Nightreign continues the tradition of blending beauty with brutality, making exploration as visually rewarding as it is dangerous.

That said, the early game can feel a bit overwhelming at first. The network test drops players into unfamiliar territory with little direction, making the opening runs somewhat disorienting. However, as you progress and uncover more of the gameplay loop, things begin to fall into place. The game gradually teaches you its mechanics and enemy placements through natural progression, rewarding patience and exploration. Like the original game, Nightreign doesn’t hold your hand, but those willing to embrace the challenge will find the experience deeply immersive and engaging.

It’s worth noting that the early network test sessions experienced some severe server issues, with frequent connection drops and lag spikes affecting the different gaming sessions. While this is expected for a test build, it did lead to some frustrating moments. That being said, FromSoftware has a strong track record of improving online functionality over time, so we’re optimistic these problems will be ironed out before the full release. If you’re a fan of Elden Ring or the Soulslike genre, Nightreign is shaping up to be another must-play experience, delivering everything we love about FromSoftware’s world-building, combat, and atmosphere.

Dreamcore: The Review

Dreamcore : The Review Score:  5.5 out of 10 Overview : " Dreamcore is an atmospheric yet simple exploration of some of the internet's most recent horror tropes. Both levels we played in the review period, felt under-cooked and uninspired making us wanting to spend our time playing other recreations of these famous horror tales." The Experience Dreamcore  shows a lot of promise with its concept, exploring these horror worlds in a different perspective. We'll be taking a look at both levels separately as they features individual positives and negatives: Level 1 ( Dreampools ) - Dreampools is another take on the "backrooms" formula, one that unfortunately, doesn't shine in this new iteration. The puzzle that takes place during the first half of the level is probably the highlight of the entire game by creating a scenario where the player has to be in a constant "focus" mode to solve it. It shows that the developers do know how to make these wor...

The story weaves together heartfelt moments with epic, high-stakes adventure, all backed by a beautifully orchestrated soundtrack. While it doesn't reinvent the genre, the game excels in its execution, offering a polished, immersive experience that feels both fresh and familiar.
