Overview: "One of the most divisive games of all time, The Last of Us: Part II is a masterclass in character building, crafting a story that pushes the boundaries in what video game storytelling can become in the future. Building on the foundations of its predecessor, this sequel delivers an uncompromising and harrowing narrative that explores themes of vengeance, loss, and the cost of survival. It's a perfect (even if divisive) sequel that brings The Last of Us franchise into the high peak of gaming."

The Positives

    • The story of "The Last of Us: Part II" is as daring as it is divisive, offering a nuanced exploration of morality, revenge, and humanity. The dual perspectives of Ellie and Abby provide a profound look at the cyclical nature of violence, forcing players to confront their own biases and expectations. The narrative never shies away from difficult topics, delivering moments that are as shocking as they are emotionally resonant. This is storytelling at its finest—challenging, impactful, and unforgettable;
    • The game’s characters are brought to life with incredible depth and authenticity. Ellie’s journey is raw and unflinching, showing her vulnerability, anger, and determination in equal measure. Abby, initially an antagonist, is humanized in unexpected ways, creating a sense of empathy that deepens the story’s complexity. The supporting cast, including Dina, Jesse, and Lev, add richness to the narrative, each playing a vital role in the unfolding drama. Every interaction feels meaningful, enhancing the emotional weight of the story;
    • Visually, "Part II" is breathtaking. The post-apocalyptic environments are meticulously detailed, from overgrown cityscapes to abandoned buildings teeming with atmosphere. Dynamic lighting, weather effects, and subtle environmental storytelling bring the world to life, making exploration as rewarding as the narrative. Naughty Dog’s ability to create a sense of place is unparalleled, and every location feels both hauntingly beautiful and eerily real;
    • Gameplay in "Part II" is a masterclass in tension and realism. The combat is brutal, with weighty, visceral mechanics that emphasize the stakes of survival. Stealth, crafting, and exploration seamlessly blend into the experience, creating encounters that feel dynamic and unpredictable. Enemies, both human and infected, exhibit heightened intelligence and behaviors, making each confrontation feel unique. The addition of dogs and new enemy types adds complexity, keeping the gameplay fresh and challenging throughout;
    • Gustavo Santaolalla returns with a hauntingly beautiful score that perfectly complements the game’s tone. The music heightens the emotional impact of key moments, while the sound design—featuring everything from the unnerving groans of the infected to the ambient sounds of a desolate world—draws players deeper into the experience. Voice acting is equally exceptional, with Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey delivering award-worthy performances that bring Ellie and Abby to life;
    • "Part II" sets a new standard for detail in video games. From the subtle animations in character expressions to the realistic physics of objects in the world, every element feels meticulously crafted. The game’s ability to convey emotion through environmental storytelling, animations, and even silence is unparalleled, creating a level of immersion rarely seen in gaming;
    • Clocking in at around 25–30 hours, "Part II" strikes a perfect balance between its expansive story and gameplay. The pacing keeps players engaged, with moments of intense action seamlessly transitioning into quieter, reflective segments. Side content and exploration are optional but rewarding, offering deeper insights into the world and its characters without detracting from the main narrative.

      The Negatives

      • Honestly, it’s difficult to find fault in "The Last of Us: Part II." Any criticisms often come down to personal preference or the bold narrative choices, which may not resonate with all players. While the story’s unrelenting emotional intensity might feel overwhelming for some, it’s also what makes the game so impactful. For those willing to embrace its darker themes, there’s little to detract from the overall experience.

      The Experience

      "The Last of Us: Part II" was an emotional rollercoaster that left us speechless. From the opening moments to the final gut-wrenching scenes, the game pushed boundaries and expectations, delivering an experience we won’t soon forget. It took us about 35 hours to complete, and every moment was packed with tension, beauty, and heartbreak. The game’s ability to make us question our own morality and empathize with its characters is a testament to Naughty Dog’s mastery. "The Last of Us: Part II" is not just a game—it’s an emotional journey, a work of art, and a defining moment for storytelling in the medium. It’s a game we’ll be talking about for years to come, and one we’re eager to revisit, even knowing the emotional toll it demands.

          Dreamcore : The Review Score:  5.5 out of 10 Overview : " Dreamcore is an atmospheric yet simple exploration of some of the internet's most recent horror tropes. Both levels we played in the review period, felt under-cooked and uninspired making us wanting to spend our time playing other recreations of these famous horror tales." The Experience Dreamcore  shows a lot of promise with its concept, exploring these horror worlds in a different perspective. We'll be taking a look at both levels separately as they features individual positives and negatives: Level 1 ( Dreampools ) - Dreampools is another take on the "backrooms" formula, one that unfortunately, doesn't shine in this new iteration. The puzzle that takes place during the first half of the level is probably the highlight of the entire game by creating a scenario where the player has to be in a constant "focus" mode to solve it. It shows that the developers do know how to make these wor...
