The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: The Review

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: The Review

Score: 10 out of 10

Overview: "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a masterclass in RPG design, delivering an epic tale of love, loss, and destiny set in a breathtaking open world. CD Projekt Red has crafted an unforgettable experience that blends compelling storytelling, complex characters, and rich gameplay systems. Whether you’re tracking monsters, navigating political intrigue, or simply exploring the gorgeous landscapes of the Continent, The Witcher 3 is a game that constantly surprises and delights. With its nuanced choices, unforgettable moments, and unparalleled attention to detail, this is not just a game—it’s a cultural touchstone in gaming history."

The Positives

  • At its heart, The Witcher 3 is a deeply personal tale of Geralt of Rivia’s search for his adopted daughter, Ciri, set against the backdrop of a world at war. The narrative is layered with themes of family, duty, and sacrifice, balancing intimate character moments with sweeping, high-stakes drama. The main story is gripping, but the side quests are equally remarkable, often rivaling the main plot in quality and emotional depth;
  • The game’s cast is one of its strongest assets. Geralt is a nuanced protagonist whose dry wit and moral complexity make him endlessly compelling. Supporting characters like Yennefer, Triss, and Dandelion are equally well-developed, each with their own personalities, motivations, and arcs. Villains, too, are multifaceted, making every encounter feel meaningful and morally grey;
  • The Continent is one of the most immersive open worlds ever created. From the bustling streets of Novigrad to the haunting swamps of Velen and the majestic isles of Skellige, every region is teeming with life and detail. Dynamic weather, day-night cycles, and NPC routines make the world feel alive, while hidden secrets and points of interest reward exploration;
  • Few games handle player choice as deftly as The Witcher 3. Every decision, big or small, has consequences that can ripple through the story and the world. The game never reduces choices to simple good or evil but instead presents morally ambiguous dilemmas that challenge players’ values and force them to live with the outcomes;
  • The game’s combat system strikes a balance between strategy and action. Using Geralt’s swords, alchemy, and Signs (magic), players can adapt to various enemy types and scenarios. Fights with monsters and human foes alike are intense and rewarding, with preparation often being the key to success;
  • Side quests in The Witcher 3 set a new standard for the genre. From helping a cursed nobleman to uncovering the tragic history of a haunted island, these stories are often as compelling as the main narrative. They’re packed with twists, emotional weight, and moral complexity, ensuring that no task feels like filler;
  • Even years after its release, The Witcher 3 remains visually stunning. The landscapes are breathtaking, character designs are detailed, and the environments are meticulously crafted. The soundtrack, composed by Marcin Przybyłowicz, is equally outstanding, with haunting melodies and powerful battle themes that perfectly complement the game’s tone.

The Negatives

  • New players might initially feel overwhelmed by the game’s complex systems, from combat mechanics to alchemy and crafting. While the tutorial is helpful, the sheer depth of the game can be daunting, though it becomes second nature with time;
  • Though the game has received numerous patches, occasional bugs and glitches can still crop up, from minor animation issues to rare quest progression problems. These are far from game-breaking, but they can momentarily pull you out of the experience.

The Experience

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is more than just a game—it’s a journey. Clocking in at over 100 hours for the main game and its expansions, every moment is packed with unforgettable adventures, emotional storytelling, and awe-inspiring sights. It’s a game that respects its players, offering them the freedom to explore, the power to shape the story, and the tools to immerse themselves in one of gaming’s richest worlds.
CD Projekt Red has created a masterpiece that sets the benchmark for open-world RPGs. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the series or a newcomer, The Witcher 3 is an essential experience, a triumph of storytelling and design that will leave an indelible mark on your gaming journey.

Dreamcore: The Review

Dreamcore : The Review Score:  5.5 out of 10 Overview : " Dreamcore is an atmospheric yet simple exploration of some of the internet's most recent horror tropes. Both levels we played in the review period, felt under-cooked and uninspired making us wanting to spend our time playing other recreations of these famous horror tales." The Experience Dreamcore  shows a lot of promise with its concept, exploring these horror worlds in a different perspective. We'll be taking a look at both levels separately as they features individual positives and negatives: Level 1 ( Dreampools ) - Dreampools is another take on the "backrooms" formula, one that unfortunately, doesn't shine in this new iteration. The puzzle that takes place during the first half of the level is probably the highlight of the entire game by creating a scenario where the player has to be in a constant "focus" mode to solve it. It shows that the developers do know how to make these wor...

Sea of Stars: The Review

Sea of Stars : The Review Score:  9 out of 10 Overview : " Sea of Stars is a stellar homage to classic JRPGs, delivering an enchanting blend of nostalgia and modern design. Its vibrant pixel art, deep turn-based combat system, and memorable characters keep you hooked from start to finish. The story weaves together heartfelt moments with epic, high-stakes adventure, all backed by a beautifully orchestrated soundtrack.
